AmeriCorps is a service organization which operates on the State and National level, supporting a wide range of local service programs that engage thousands of Americans in intensive community service each year. We provide grants to a network of local and national organizations and agencies committed to using national service to address critical community needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment.
Audubon’s mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity. In New York, Audubon launched the Important Bird Area program and frequently partners with NY State Parks.
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is a world leader in the study, appreciation, and conservation of birds. The lab is dedicated to advancing the understanding of nature and engaging people of all ages in learning about birds and protecting the planet.
New York Natural Heritage Program
The NYNHP facilitates the conservation of New York’s biodiversity by providing information and scientific expertise on rare species and natural ecosystems to resource managers and other conservation partners.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)
DEC manages the two largest state parks in New York State, the Adirondack Park and Catskill Park. DEC Environmental Education bureau encourages the stewardship of natural resources and the enhancement of environmental quality through programs that give you and adults direct hands-on contact with the environment. We oversee four year-round environmental education centers, operate four summer residential camps for youth, conduct teacher training workshops, supervise naturalist interns and AmeriCorps members, and offer public programs on natural resource topics. DEC staff lead learn to fish programs in NY State Parks and assist State Parks staff in preserving New York state parks.

SUNY-ESF is a regular partner with NYS Parks and the NY Natural Heritage program.

SCA is a non-profit organization which places young people in internships with parks and public across the country to make improvements and learn conservation and sustainability practices.
